Take That’s Howard Donald To Host New Classic Car Show On Channel 4

Classic car shows feature some of the most interesting motors in the world. Series like Car SOS have become very popular and a new show has been commissioned for Channel 4. Take That star Howard Donald and racing success Dario Franchitti will host Mission Ignition, a four-part series involving two teams of classic car enthusiasts.

The show will see Donald and Franchitti lead the teams in rebuilding classic cars. In each episode, two vintage motors will be transformed into a big jigsaw puzzle, with Donald and Franchitti’s teams battling to put their car back together first. Whoever wins will be able to keep the car.

Before he joined Take That in 1989, Donald was a panel beater and vehicle sprayer. He’s been a fan of cars for years and has developed an impressive collection. He’s also raced cars like a Porsche 911 GT2 and Austin A30.  “I’ve always loved classic cars, so the opportunity to be involved in Mission Ignition and see these historic cars rebuilt is fantastic.”

The series is the first major commission for East Media, which was set up by The Cube producer Nathan Eastwood. “There is no show on TV that looks like this, we’ve got amazing and passionate talent in Dario and Howard. I can’t wait for everyone to watch and enjoy the series. The show is packed with take out, genuine edge of the seat tension with a dream prize at the end.”

Channel 4 Format Commissioning Editor Jonny Rothery is responsible for ordering Mission Ignition. “Watching the two teams battling it out for the keys to some beautiful classics is truly gripping. Followed closely by the growing rivalry between Howard and Dario, it’s not just a show for wannabe mechanics but for anyone who loves watching passionate people on screen.”

Mission Ignition sounds like an amazing show and we can’t wait to see it!
