Car SOS Audi Quattro Helps To Raise Money For Charity At Auction

Car SOS, hosted by Carole Nash ambassador Fuzz Townshend and Tim Shaw, is one of the most popular classic car shows in the world. The duo have helped to restore a plethora of beautiful motors and a car they renovated recently sold at auction for charity. A 1984 Audi Quattro Turbo sold at the Classic Car Auctions (CCA) held in the Warwickshire Event Centre in September.

The car had undergone a full restoration during the third season of Car SOS. The late owner, Barry Hollamby, requested the proceeds be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support and Mesothelioma UK. A total of £20,350 was raised from the sale, benefiting the charities.

The CCA auction had a range of cars in high demand. A 1968 Jensen Interceptor Mark 1 sold for £85,800, having the longest bidding time of any lot. A 1962 Daimler Dart SP250 with manual transmission sold for £36,300. There were other British classics on the lot as well, including three MGS, a restored 1933 J2 Midget and a 1956 MGA Coupe.

A left-hand drive Monza Red 1993 Lancia Delta Integrale surpassed its estimated price by going for £48,950. An anticipated car, the rare 1996 BMW 850 CSI, went for £50,600. The rarity came down to the fact that it’s one of only 160 UK examples.

Based on the cars on offer, the CCA auction turned out to be a huge success. A total of £1.8 million was made, demonstrating there’s still a market for British classics. The Car SOS Audi Quattro went towards a good cause and demonstrated Fuzz and Tim’s expertise.

The duo has enjoyed plenty of success in 2018. Earlier in the year they helped to fulfil a son’s promise to his father and in May, Fuzz and Tim launched an exhibition at the British Motor Museum.
