Classic cars represent some of the most beautiful motors in the world. So, it’s easy to see why some people would want to own an entire collection. Celebrities like David Beckham and Jay Leno are known for their armada of classic vehicles. Another celebrity with a history of buying classic cars is Chris Evans. The former Top Gear presenter has speedy models like a Ferrari California Spyder, to stylish automobiles like a Jaguar MK IX.

We’ve put together a list of Evan’s most impressive cars that stand out for their magnificence and elegance.

1959 Daimler SP250 Dart

The 1959 Daimler Dart is one of the last Dart police cars, which were used by Scotland Yard to chase down motorcycle racers. The SP250 has a V8 engine with an output of 140hp, making it a fast car for the time. Evans bought the Dart from auction for £55000 and sold it in 2015 at the Goodwood Revival Sale.

1961 Ferrari California Spyder

In 2008, Evans paid £5.6 million for the California Spyder that was previously owned by actor James Coburn. The black car has smooth curves and an engine that’s capable of pumping out 280hp. It’s certainly one of the most prized cars in Evans’ collection.

1974 MK1 Ford Escort Mexico

The MK1 Ford Escort Mexico was created after Ford’s successful showing at the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally. The event was won by the FEV 1H, and this inspired the Escort Mexico’s name. Evans’ Escort Mexico is one of the cheapest in his collection. It has a retro appearance that’s stood the test of time. It’s a valuable car because it comes from the First Generation Ford Escort.

1963 Ferrari GTO

Evans’ appreciation for Ferraris is well-documented, having owned a few models over the years. He paid £2 million for his 1963 Ferrari GTO. The car comes with a 3-litre V12 engine that reaches a top speed of 174 mph. The GTO has an exquisite racing pedigree that makes it a splendid part of the presenter’s collection.

1972 VW Beetle

Classic cars don’t have to be big and flashy, which is the case with Evans’ 1972 VW Beetle. The motor is compact and gorgeous, with the quintessential features of a Beetle. These include the eye-like headlights and curves.

1963 ½ Ford Mustang

Evans bought his Mustang when he was living in LA. The car is black with a white hood and white leather interior. One of the earliest Mustang models, the 1963 ½ features the first FM radio ever fitted into a car.

Rolls Royce Phantom

The Phantom has a commanding presence, from the powerful body, to the shiny wheels. Evans has admitted it’s one of his favourite cars. “There is no ride like being a Phantom – it’s not like being in a car, it’s more like being in a moving gentlemen’s club. In fact, I prefer it to being in my home sometimes.”
