More power and comfort for Triumph Tiger trio

Triumph is giving its Tiger 900 range a comprehensive update for 2024, adding more power and more spec in a rationalised model line-up.

A major engine update sees the range get a 13% power hike, with peak power rising from 94bhp to 107bhp and torque boosted from 87Nm to 90Nm. More importantly, Triumph claim the new Tiger 900s will have improved tractability at the lower end of the rev range, with fuel consumption improving by 9% - quite a benefit on a bike designed to rack up the miles.

It's not just the engines which have been updated. While certainly not an ‘all-new’ model the 2024 Tiger 900s have gained some significant chassis and spec updates to keep it competitive in a popular sector which includes competitors like the BMW F 900 GS series, KTM’s 890 Adventure and the Honda Africa Twin range.

As before, there are two different ‘flavours’ of Tiger 900, a more road orientated ‘GT’ version with a 19” front wheel and the ‘Rally’ version with a 21” front and an additional 600mm of suspension travel. The 2024 range will consist of three models: the entry level Tiger 900 GT, the up specced GT Pro and Rally Pro, with prices ranging from £12,195 to £14,495. Triumph have trimmed down their Tiger 900 range, with the GT Low and base Rally version getting the flick, while the upping of the power output means that there will be no option to restrict the bike for A2 licence holders.

All GT and Rally versions gain new suspension, the GTs wearing Marzocchi units front and rear, with the Pro benefitting from an electronically adjustable rear shock for on the fly adjustment. The Rally Pro features longer travel, manually adjustable, Showa suspension front and rear. GT models come rolling on cast wheels shod with Metzeler Tourance Next rubber, while the Rally Pro features spoked wheels with tubeless Bridgestone Battlax Adventure tyres. All models come with Brembo’s high spec Stylema brakes, with a new feature being the adoption of an emergency deceleration warning system – which automatically activate the hazard warning lights in the event of an emergency stop.

The Tiger 900 has always been a handy all-rounder and capable mile muncher, and the 2024 models promise more comfort, with new seats and a damped handlebar mounting system designed to further improve the bikes’ capability. Both Pro bikes have seated handlebar grips and saddles as standard, while all have dual seat height settings, giving the GTs an 820-840mm seat height as standard, with the Rally sitting at 860-880mm.

Other updates include the adoption of an easy to read 7” TFT dash, optimised cornering ABS and traction control. All variants have four riding modes as standard, with the Pros also gaining the ‘Triumph Shift Assist’ clutchless gear change system, as well as additional riding models.

Giving the Tiger 900 a fresh look, the 2024 models get revised styling, new lights colours and graphics.

The new Tiger 900s are due in dealerships in early 2024 and will be available to see at Motorcycle Live.
