KTM’s 890 Adventure gets a boost for 2023

When we tested the previous generation of KTM’s 890 Adventure, we absolutely loved it. It’s an incredibly impressive bit of kit both on and off-road but, on the flipside, it isn’t quite the easiest machine in the world to ride if you aren’t the most confident rider, thanks to its high seat height and long-travel suspension. Now those, and a few other bits, have been changed.

Although the engine and chassis remain the same as per the previous model, the ’23 iteration sees a slightly lower seat height than before, coming it at 825mm. KTM say that even so there is no change to suspension travel, nor the capabilities either sitting down or standing on the pegs, which is an impressive, and welcome feat. Alongside this, the new 890 Adventure has had a fairly sizeable facelift, meaning that the new integrated fairing section is reinforced for not only better load-bearing, but also to work alongside the wider tank panels for more protection. The screen is also higher, inspired by KTM’s rally range and the seat is said to have been made that little comfier too.

These modifications work alongside new calibration for the WP Apex suspension, which are now fully adjustable via the top caps on the front, while the rear has been altered to minimize the height, while retaining the same impressive feedback and feel. There’s also a new ABS unit and an improved 5” TFT dash system with an easier-to-use interface, alongside a tougher screen for if you’re really serious about some brutish off-road riding.

Although there’s no word yet on price or availability, but these small mods look like combining to make a big difference. The new KTM 890 Adventure really does sound like a mighty bit of kit. We can’t wait to get our hands on one…
