Kawasaki has confirmed that the Ninja ZX-6R will be back in its line-up for 2024. This will be welcome news to those who were worried that the days of four-cylinder middleweights were numbered, and comes just a few months after Kawasaki confirmed the arrival of the ZX-4R, proving that it’s not all about twins these days.
As you would expect, the 2024 Ninja ZX-6R has both technical and styling updates, but crucially, the power figures look rather healthy. Although the 636cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, in-line four-cylinder engine now passes the new emissions regs, with the aid of Kawasaki’s Ram Air system it puts out a maximum of 128bhp at 13,000 rpm. It features revised cam profiles and intake funnels, as well as header and collector pipes, all combining to benefit low- to mid-rpm performance (and help keep the emissions low).
The aero-winglet equipped front fairing houses hybrid projector/reflector headlights (part of a complete LED lighting package), and the new sports windshield is equipped with special cut-outs to reduce buffeting.
Kawasaki has equipped the bike with some impressive bells and whistles for the class, such as the SFF-BP (separate function fork with big piston), quickshifter, three-mode traction control, power and riding modes, and Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres.
A new 4.3” colour TFT dash features smartphone connectivity via Kawasaki’s Rideology app, as well as useful information such as a shift light, service reminder, oil change reminder, and riding mode indicator. And while this might not be a bike that most people plan to ride particularly economically, there is an ‘economical riding’ indicator on the dash too.
The 2024 Ninja ZX-6R will be available in two colourways (green or grey/black) from October 2023 and will be priced at £10,599.
