Ducati’s Scrambler range has been a success in so many ways since being introduced in 2015. Not only did they create a cost-effective entry point into the world of Ducati, they also created a range of models vastly different from the super-premium, sporty weapons we had come expect from Bologna, with chilled out, relaxed retros with a vibe all of their own.
For 2023, or ‘the next generation of Ducati Scrambler’ as they put it, there are three different models on sale, dubbed the Icon, Full Throttle and the Nightshift. Weight has been reduced by 4kg on all three, thanks to an update to the trellis frame and rear subframe, while the 73hp twin-cylinder engine has been slightly modified and lightened too. The wheels have also been updated. On top of all that, the 2023 Scrambler models have been given a new Ride by Wire system alongside two riding modes, a new dash system, Ducati Traction Control and cornering ABS, alongside the option to add a quickshifter and autoblipper – although those comes as standard on the Full Throttle.
Between the three there are some subtle differences. The Icon comes equipped with a new tank, replaceable side covers, a revised handlebar setup that is closer to the rider, a redesigned seat and updated styling too. The Full Throttle is the sportiest in the line-up, thanks to some inspiration from flat track racers, with side number plates (the 62 signifies the 1962 debut for the original Scrambler) alongside a sportier seat cover and finish, a snazzier livery, street legal Termignoni silencer, as well as the aforementioned quickshifter and autoblipper.
The final model in the range is the Nightshift, which comes in a more classic, blacked out style with a café-racer influence and some nice detailing, lower bars and also some compact LED signals. All three models can be fully customised and will be hitting dealers in 2023.
