If you’re a fan of big, pimped out BMWs then look no further than the latest additions to the R 18 range.

It was hard to miss BMW’s R 18 upon its release, with a staggering 1,802cc engine that produces 91 horsepower, alongside more than 150Nm of torque – making it the most powerful air-cooled twin production bike that this planet has ever seen. And now, there’s a few new members of the family: the R 18 Transcontinental and the R 18 B.

Both models come with a new front fairing, with the R 18 Transcontinental getting a high wind shield and wind deflector, as opposed to the lower windscreen on the R 18 B.

Sitting below some big old analogue dials for speed and revs, there’s a massive 10.25” TFT display, complete with integrated navigation and connectivity as standard, cruise control (with the option of active cruise control too), a Marshall sound system in the fairings and new colours – while the Transcontinental also gets heated seats, chrome trim, an additional headlamp, engine bars and a top case. It’s a big bike designed for big journeys, and very much aimed at the American market.

That won’t stop us Europeans riding them though, and the bikes are expected to hit British dealers this September, with the R18 B starting at £21,500 and the R 18 Transcontinental starting at £23,300.
