Carole Nash set to back Ireland’s only historic race festival

Classic and ‘revival’ meetings have been rising in popularity in recent years. Events like the Silverstone Classic and Goodwood Revival have been huge successes, not only giving fans a chance to see classic cars and motorcycles competing on the race track, but also providing visitors the opportunity to dress up in the period and really drink in the sounds and smells of a golden era of motoring.

Mondello Park plays host to Ireland’s only historic festival, and it returns August 13th bigger and better than ever – and with the proud backing of Carole Nash Ireland.

Featuring classic cars and motorcycles, the big news for 2022 is what is being dubbed the first Irish international Grand Prix in almost a century. Racing incorporates cars and bikes from the pioneering days of the 1960s through to the glamorous 1960s era.

The first Irish International Grand Prix was held in the of Phoenix Park in 1929 and this year the same trophy will be awarded to the winner of the Frazer-Nash class at the Carole Nash Historic Festival, while the Dublin Grand Prix Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the pre-war race, featuring race cars from the ‘20s and ‘30s.

More modern vehicles will be on display with the Martin Birrane Collection on display and featuring an impressive collection of iconic cars from the world of elite motorsport, with Formula One, Le Mans, NASCAR and Procars from Porsche, Jordan, Jaguar, Benetton, Ford and many more legendary car manufacturers at the event.

Speaking ahead of the event, Colm Tully, Managing Director of Carole Nash Ireland said “Carole Nash are extremely proud to help welcome back the Historic Festival to Mondello Park this year. Classic Cars and caring for our community are two things we’re passionate about at Carole Nash and there’s no better way to combine those two things than the Historic Festival. A great day out for the family, an excellent way to support local motorsport and a brilliant way to get together as a community – we cannot wait to be a part of it!”

As well as the track action, Car SOS host and fellow petrol head Tim Shaw will also be in attendance on Sunday 14th August. Tim will be in the paddocks interviewing some of the drivers and you can catch him on the Carole Nash stand, located in the paddock, at 12pm where you can pick yourself up a Carole Nash goodie bag and chat to the man himself. 

There will also be plenty to see and do for spectators of all ages, with live music, vintage funfair and plenty more still to be announced. Roddy Greene, Mondello Park’s Managing Director, added: “I am delighted to announce that the Historic Festival is returning, it is one of the highlights of the year, this unique festival is a favourite with adults and children alike, whether someone is a fan of motorsport, fancies getting dressed up or just coming along for the fun.”

The event takes place on Saturday 13th and Sunday August 14th. Individual tickets cost from €25, with a day pass for a family of four priced at €55.
