Royal Enfield take the covers off new Scram 411

royal enfield Scram 411

Royal Enfield really have gone from strength to strength in recent years, with an impressive range of machinery which has been flying out of the showrooms. And now it has added one more bike to their burgeoning range, with the unveiling of their new Scram 411: essentially, a more road focussed version of the Himalayan adventure bike.

Based heavily on their incredibly popular Himalayan, the Scram 411 is powered by the same 411cc, four-stroke single, which pumps out a modest 24.3bhp at 6500rpm, with 32Nm of torque. They’ve then kept this in the same chassis, which has been produced alongside Enfield owned frame building legends, Harris Performance.

Even though it doesn’t have the same off-road ability as the more rugged Himalayan (which has a 21” front wheel and 200mm of front suspension travel) the Scram 411 still comes equipped with a 19” front wheel, dual purpose tyres, 190mm of front suspension travel and a riding position that allows the rider to be comfortable standing as well, meaning it can still tackle the dirty stuff, albeit not quite in such a focussed way.

Royal Enfield have then given the Scram 411 dual-channel ABS, a new dashboard, which combines a large analogue speedo with a neat digital inset, and the Royal Enfield Tripper Navigation screen too, which is a nice touch.  They’ve then stripped the Himalayan down and given it a makeover, complete with a single-piece seat which has been optimised for comfort. Although prices are yet to be announced, Royal Enfield say that bikes will be available from May. Sharp pricing has been one of the keys to Enfield’s resurgence in recent years, so expect it to be on the cheaper end of the new bike scale – hopefully around the £5,000 mark. We can’t wait to ride one!
