Moto Guzzi throw a party for their 100th anniversary

guzzi fest

Although they haven’t quite made their mark on the superbike as scene as they would’ve liked to on the short circuits, it’s fair to say that BMW’s Motorsport wing has had an incredible 50 years of incredible success, spanning both the two and four wheeled worlds. And to celebrate the milestone, they’ve released a special edition version of their range topping superbike: the M 1000 RR.

BMW’s Motorsport division was formed in May 1972, with its first product being the iconic 3.0CSL. This was followed up by the M1 supercar of 1978, and since then the M badge has appeared on a number of high end BMW sports cars.

First unveiled back in 2020, the M 1000 RR was the first motorcycle to be fully designated as an ‘M’ model. Unsurprisingly the first M model from BMW Motorrad was a very special machine, but for the 50th anniversary BMW have given this limited edition a little bit of swagger, to set it apart from the standard model.

This means that you get the Sau Paulo yellow paint scheme (the same as you’ll find on the BMW M4 Coupe), a 50 year anniversary badge and most importantly the M Competition Package as standard. This includes an M GPS laptripper, M billet pack, carbon pack, passenger kit, M endurance chain and even a lighter swingarm. Factory superbike rider Scott Redding used the livery at the Estoril WorldSBK round and now we can all get a piece of this BMW history for ourselves.

Priced at £35,200, the 50th Anniversary M 1000 RR will be available to order from 20th May to 30th November 2022.
