Indian Motorcycle continues to target fellow Americans Harley-Davidson with a brand new uber tourer in the vein of Harley’s Road Glide.
Priced from £27,695 (£400 more than the base Harley-Davidson Road Glide) the Indian Pursuit is based around the company’s 1768cc V-twin motor, pumping out a stonking 178Nm of torque at just 3800rpm and with a peak power of over 120bhp.
As you would expect from a near £30k motorcycle, the Pursuit is packed with high tech kit and big touring spec.
The view from behind the big chassis mounted fairing is dominated by a 7” TFT touchscreen, which operates the big booming built in audio system. The system connects to Apple CarPlay, giving sat-nav functionality, and can also be connected to Bluetooth devices.
The massive three-box luggage system is linked to the bike’s central locking system and provides 133 litres of storage. Heated grips, bright LED lights and sumptuously upholstered heated seats also make for a bike that should be as at home on a Northern European tour as it is on the Pacific Coast Highway.
At 400kg before adding fuel, the new Indian Pursuit is a big old beast, however the chassis spec sheet suggest it should belie its weight on the open roads. The radially mounted Brembo brakes are more typically found on the race track than a big tourer, while the Bosch IMU controls the cornering ABS and dynamic traction control.
The Indian Pursuit Limited comes in Black Metallic and costs £27,695, while the Pursuit Dark Horse costs £200 more. It comes in two colour options: Black Smoke or Silver Quartz Smoke and has blacked out components, including the mirrors, exhausts and engine casings.
